Um... you make the assumption that Dave Matthews has any control over the
rights to studio sessions. Given what I've read about music contracts in
the last thirty years, I would doubt that any member of the band can
exercise control over any content except that in live concerts. And even
there, it is probably not allowed.
I can't find it right now, but there is a great article on this topic
(musicians rights) by Janis Ian somewhere on her site. While her music
doesn't do much for me, the article deeply impressed me.
